Quick report
One of the two hand pits I dug yielded interesting results. ~6" of dry snow on top of a thin wind board, with another ~1' of dry snow down to a crust with a facet layer on top. I was able to get the column to slide reasonably easily over the crust/facet interface. The other hand pit I dug didn't find this crust-facet layer. A test slope yielded failure on the thin wind crust after jumping twice. All tests were done at around 2,330' on SW-NW-facing aspects. The main run down Tincan Common was heavily skied, but shots off to the north and south had far fewer tracks. Snow quality was quite pleasant, but the supportable wind crust was easily felt under the ~1' of new snow.
Avalanche
As others have reported, there are lots of "larger-then-typical" dry loose avalanches. Without much wind to turn the recent snow into cohesive slabs, it would seem the weak layer ~1' down is making for easily triggered sloughs that aren't reacting as slabs. Off the south side of Tincan, we observed a crack from a slab that seems to have initiated naturally, but didn't slide down the slope (see photo).
