Harp

Did one run in Harp bowl without concerns. Second run toured up ridge between Harp and Two Bowls. Wind was out of North and loading south aspects. Transitioned at about 4000' with my partner a couple hundred feet below me. Decided to ski south wedt aspect back into Harp bowl in the sun and out of the wind. After side stepping down thin snow over rocks, I started to connect turns and 3 or 4 turns in saw fractures and waves around me. Realized I was in an avalanche and tried to traverse out, but it broke above me and knocked me off my feet and took my poles. I yelled avalanche as I knew I was just out of sight of my partner. I went for a ride in the debris, at one point with it coming over my head and I was preparing to get buried. But then it passed me by and I was on top and unburied. My partner heard me and quickly skied a little down the ridge to get eyes on me without exposing himself. I was carried about 200 vertical feet and the debris went into the gulley about 3-4 feet deep. Crown was 12-18" deep and maybe 75-100' wide. Suspected new snow and wind load. Bed surface was very firm and about 40 degrees or mid to high thirties.
