12” low density snow over a 1F wind slab over rain crust/ facet interface. We experienced localized whumpfing/ cracking on small but steep test slopes and decided to dig a quick snowpit at ~2,500’. ECTP18 on 1-2mm facets on top of the rain crust. New snow was relatively unaffected by the wind during our tour but felt like maybe it was starting to pick up later in the afternoon, from the NNW. Certainly plenty of snow available for transport in the front range right now!
