Quick report
- Cracking
- specific
We observed widespread, active wind transport on Douglas Island today which was forming touchy (easy to trigger), soft windslabs above 2500ft. Evidence was easy to find. Shooting cracks were frequent. It appeared the wind event started earlier today, as the slabs were still relatively small, soft (similar to the consistency of cake) and not propagating widely.
Avalanche
Observed 2 natural and 3 skier triggered (ski cuts) avalanches. All size 1 wind slabs 10-15cm thick, ~10-15 meters wide. Multiple aspects above 2,700 ft. One avalanche caught and carried a skier a short distance, about 10 feet.
