Cold, clear, calm day in Eagle River. -3F at sunrise, +3F at dusk. Well developed surface hoar hung on every branch, completely untouched by the extreme winds elsewhere in the Mat-Su Valley. There has been no wind in South Fork this weekend. Snowpack below treeline is very thin, often less 1ft. There are large dry loose facets at the base and a 2-4cm thick mid-pack rain crust, all topped with a few inches of loose faceting snow and surface hoar. No whumpfing or shooting cracks observed.
