Quick report

A beautiful day at the brush ballet:

  • This area has 16-24" of unconsolidated snow seemingly well-bonded to the 2/3 crust(s)
  • Witnessed no obvious signs of instability
  • Observed minor natural sluffing in steep rocky terrain
  • Found small surface hoar on shaded aspects at mid elevations, did not find buried surface hoar in hand pits
  • Noticed plenty of evidence of recent NE winds as low as 5500'
  • Wind slabs were thin and stubborn along an upper elevation ridge
One crack in a thin wind slab on a ridge at 6700'. Small sluffs did not pick up much mass or speed on steep shaded slopes at 6800'
