High hopes for the day given the snotel, but unfortunately mother nature decided to cap the ~6" of new snow with a nice 2-3mm layer of rime. Found on all aspects from about 5200' to our high point of 7k in Noisy and Jewel basins. Actually skied fine, just loud and probably wouldn't want to take a dive into it. Crust decreased to 1-2mm heading north from the notch. Cracking of the surface crust was the only sign of instability today. More tracks off checkerboard ridge into noisy than I've ever seen. Currently 1 abandoned Toyota Tercel stuck on the road too far up... Yeeyee!
