Nyack Mountain

We enjoyed a day off in the Middle Fork, where we took advantage of the remaining snow.

• Multiple nights with poor or non-existent refreeze left mushy near-surface conditions at all elevations.
• Below roughly 5800 feet, the top 4 inches were wet and rested on several inches of mush.
• Above that, the surface was 1-4 inches of recent wind-blown snow resting on 4-6 inches of mush. Cool temperatures and a cold, moderate wind left a weak 1" crust beneath the new snow.
• No recent natural avalanche activity was noted.
• The riding was fun at the upper elevations, gluey at the middle elevations, and enjoyable wet supportable below there. 

We triggered numerous rollerballs and several small, thin, wet loose slides below 6000 feet. Cracking occurred in the freshly formed weak surface crust and was limited to the length of our skis.
