Quick report

We observed no obvious signs of instability and no avalanches. We dug a put on a southwest aspect at 7300 ft. Snow depth was 110cm. Mostly unremarkable snow structure. Extended column test result: ECTX. However, one more tap (31) resulted in partial propagation on a layer of surface hoar 52 cm from the surface. This layer is difficult to find in a snow profile and the crystals are mostly flattened. We also found the early Dec. rain crust just above this layer at this elevation. Overall, great skiing above 5500 ft. in sheltered terrain.
