We were looking at comparing south and north snow pits. Both pits proved to be quite bonded and stubborn with MF crusts in the top of the pit. We did have a small collapse roughly 70cm down ECTN22. Q3 and needed a big pry from the shovel behind the column to fail. 205cm total height. We choose low angle sheltered northerly aspect skiing for short laps near Kona trees. Solar aspects did not soften up, even later in the day. Wind was also not a factor for our tour until around 1700. We had a MF crust on solar aspects that made for variable skiing conditions that would sometimes break and grab skis. Along the ridge some thin wind slabs were present but very thin and breakable. Later in the day at lower elevations tree bombs or ski turns would initiate roller balls and pinwheels indicating a greenhouse effect on the northerly side of the compass below the ridge. Gloppy but manageable.
