Sledded up Jewel Basin road to the cabin and then toured up to the radio tower. Sidehill skinning was sporty to say the least with the new snow sluffing off on the rock hard crust below. New snow ranged between 4-8” and was variable and lightly wind blown. On the radio tower ridge we observed cross loading and uphill cornices across the entire ridge. The drop in to Picnic Lakes was very low vis and icy as all the snow had sluffed off. The Lower elevation/angle skiing into Black Lake was much better.
