Deadfall Lakes Basin/ Eddy Mountains

A thin snowpack dominates the Eddy Mountains. On average, snow depths measure 40 to 45 inches near treeline (~7,300 feet). A wet snowpack exists throughout the entirety of the observed terrain with many exposed obstacles and open creeks. Travel cautiously.

There is certainly a recipe for wet snow instabilities among the more steep and complex terrain surrounding the Deadfall Lake Basin. A small, fresh-looking wet loose was observed off a northeast ridgeline that likely resulted from a small cornice collapse. Rain runnels were observed on all aspects and elevations on both prominent terrain features and lowland meadows, showcasing water drainage within the snowpack.
