Quick report
Skied one lap Sunburst (the normal south facing face) on a line towards the back of the ridge, close to Taylor Pass and next to an older D1+ avalanche. Partly sunny, mountain-top clouds to the south and north. 0-5 mph wind. No red flags observed in weather or snow underfoot, but recent (since 12/25-26 snow?) avalanches within view shed of Sunburst. Snow up high (2,500ish) was deeper and better than expected. Taylor pass was bare and icy. Towards the top of the run on Sunburst I did a super quick hand pit two hands deep found no reactive layers, not much obvious variation in hardness or texture. Ski cut a 35ish degree slope at top of run and got pizza box sized 4" layer to slide, nothing else. There was a little bit of a soft wind texturing on the surface, soft and shallow enough to be imperceptible while skiing. At the lower reaches of Taylor Creek drainage valley, it was apx 4" new snow on supportable rain crust. Skin out was very thin and icy, tundra-y, and the "with speed" approach over a creek did not work.

Old avalanche 2/3 way back Sunburst towards Taylor Pass. D1. New avalanches on benches/roll overs on road facing aspect of Magnum and on similar aspect of Sunburst, to skinner's left of traditional skin track
