Quick report
Day spent touring around the playground area of Tam Rim. Great snow quality all around the zone, minimal to no crust felt when skinning and skiing N/NE trees and open slopes. Due to recent snowfall we did not venture to steeper, more consequential terrain. Weather was cool, cloudy, with minimal wind even on lower ridge lines. Initial laps saw minor signs of instability on landings below cliffs in manageable areas with clean run outs. One previous avalanche observed in a N aspect bowl near tree line - appeared to be human triggered by a ski cut on the entrance. D1, approximate 4-6” crown, ran halfway down the slope. Appeared to be from earlier today. Further over in that bowl, we intentionally dropped a small cornice onto the slope of a similar terrain feature. Cornice fall triggered the slope below. See avalanche observation attached. Observations throughout the day were consistent with a touchy soft storm slab on typical trigger points of steeper slopes below ridge lines and convexities.

Previous avalanche activity observed in the area on similar terrain features, aspect, and slope. Skier intentionally triggered a small cornice onto a steep N/NE slope near tree line. Cornice fall released a storm slab, 8-12” crown at its deepest, propagating ~50’. The slide entrained top storm snow over a secondary cliff band, continuing through to the bottom of the slope 200’ vertical down.
