Tenderfoot

New snow was dry and light from the start of the tour to the ridgeline at approximately 3000' where we topped out. Classically, the wind effected snow above treeline made the depth past 2600' variable on the uptrack ridge, and sastrugi was beginning to form though it was still soft. We dug a quick pit and did an ECT at 2600' just on the southwest side of the ridge on a generally wind protected area and found no concerning results. Total depth was 103 cm with 57cm of new on top of an old melt freeze crust that ranged in our pit from 2-6cms thick. The new snow seemed to be bonding nicely as there was no sheering at this layer in question. With these findings we felt our biggest concern of the day was navigating around the old glide release that was recently covered. The ski down was a treat as the soft and dry conditions persisted.
