Quick report
I toured at Paulina Peak today, on south and southwest aspects between 6600' and 7800' elevation. I did not observe any recent avalanches or red flags. I was surprised by the amount of new, low density snow (15 cm over the recent crust). In open areas near the summit of Paulina Peak, the recent snow was wind drifted and rippled on the surface (see photo), and I noticed a 5 cm soft slab breaking easily on small, steep features and wind lips. I saw lightly blowing snow as well. The wind was out of the south, but it was light -- not strong enough to scour southerly aspects -- so I was seeing wind effected snow on multiple aspects. The open trees and glades skied very nicely. I only scraped the crust when the trees were tightly spaced and/or the slope angle got a bit steeper. Snow was falling lightly in the morning. It tapered off for a few hours during the middle of the day, then got going again around 1 PM and was falling steadily (snow globe) when I was leaving the trailhead around 3 PM.
