Avalanche
We observed the aftermath of a significant slide in Tumalo bowl. Skier triggered. Skier entered skiers right of cornice. Approximately 30 ft into descent a crack initaited and propogated from ski track approximately 200 ft to the skiers left, across the entirety of the bowl. Layer which failed was approximately 70 cm down under wind accumulated snow and appeared to be the recent ice layer. Wind slab on the top ~20 cm was also reactive. It appeared that the avalanche ran on the deep layer approximately 50 ft then stepped up to the wind slab which ran down the majority of the bowl. Far end terminus of crack was seen on the north ridge while ascending. Seperate avalanche debris was present in the cliff, we did not investigate. Work obligations prevented more detailed observations. We arrived at ~730 am, slide occurred before that.
