Blue Mountain to Wisherd

We found about 16" of new snow above 6,500 feet during a tour from Marshall to Lockwood. There was enough wind in most near treeline terrain to form soft slabs. Throughout the day, we heard quite a bit of isolated collapsing in the new snow. We also observed a snowmobiler triggered avalanche at the top of the fifth bowl on a steep East facing slope just below the ridgeline. It did not appear that anyone was caught or injured. We dug a pit to about 120 cm on a sheltered East facing slope at 6,500 feet. HS around 240 cm. We found multiple crusts, but the only reactive layer was at the base of the new snow from the last three days (ECTP14 at 45 cm). There was enough new snow with wind affect that we modified our plans to avoid avalanche terrain.
