We observed a spring like snow pack with air temps that were warm enough to make you shed your layers the surface rain crust that had formed was softening quickly, as temperatures were inverted Surface crust 1-2cm (almost an inch thick) was softening in the afternoon.

Snowpack

On the surface there was a 1 to 2 cm rain crust that was softening in the warm temps in the sun. Runnels from rain were observed also all over the surface up to 8000 feet. Snow in the trees was observed on Nick Peak estimated to be at 7800 to 8000‘ and above . 65 cm below the surface we were still able to get propagation results on persistent weak layers like buried surface whore and Facets compression test results were hard CT 24 and extended column test results failed around 24 and 26 taps from the shoulder, Propigation saw test results propagated after reaching 40 cm across the hundred centimeters block, the fracture propagated clear across the block showing that this weak layer can still propagate a fracture if triggered. All crust seem to be softening, and the most stout crust that formed in early December is showing good bonding with the snow above it below the December crust. The October and November facets are moist, but noticeably softer than the snow above which is getting hard.

We saw a small surface, wet loose on the North face of Jug, probably too small to injure R1D1 ran 3-400 feet.
