Our group departed LTS staging area about 10am. Weather was clear no wind. Enroute to Lacey Valley we encountered variable snow conditions from 7000-9000’ of hard pack, surface hoar, facets, melt freeze crust. 1:45 pm: A test pit at 7396’ with a NW aspect on a 2 degree slope was dug. Sunny. Wind calm. Snow depth was 155 cm. Pit depth 105 cm. Boot Pen 35 cm. No instabilities were noted but limited our group to medium exposure. Northern aspects continue to hold less cohesive snow which made for a great day for riding with some effort.
