Quick report
Pretty quiet day out in the mountains. Although the Titus lot was packed to the gills when we got back this afternoon. Quite a difference from earlier this week. Hero travel conditions on snowmobiles right now. Widespread MF crust has created the opposite travel conditions on skis/boards. Expect to see an increase in wet loose activity this weekend. Surface MF crusts may keep dry loose activity on shaded aspects to a minimum.

Clear, calm, and sunny. Winds were light out of the N/NE, becoming a little more E/NE in the afternoon. A few clouds were building off to the north and east, but the sky was mostly clear. Lots of sunshine. Temps stayed cool (relatively) for most of the day and was starting to climb by early afternoon.
Snowpack
Fairly quiet snowpack right now. Widespread melt-freeze crusts at the surface from solar radiation the past 1-2 days. Crust was observed across all aspects, but more pronounced on solar aspects. We dug two pits today. One was at 7570', SE aspect, HS 310 cm. Pencil-hard melt-freeze at the surface was becoming moist around 1130. Underneath surface MF crust was 20 cm of recent snowfall this week atop a knife-hard crust complex from last week. New snow was still fairly dry. Interestingly, 50 cm (20") down from the surface there was 20 cm of wet snow from last week's warmup. CT 11, 10 cm down. Second pit was 7500', NW aspect, HS 360 cm. Surface crust was thinner and not has hard as solar aspect. Surface hoar and 3 cm of recrystallized snow at snow surface. We did observed a layer 25 cm down of near-surface facets that are rounded (this was the small snowfall from Friday-Saturday last week). ECTN 19 on this layer, CT 14 BRK.
