Elevation 7900’ NE aspect HS 330cm New snow 65cm CT @ 3 taps broke 10cm deep @ 11 broke 20cm @ 15 broke 23cm @ 20 broke 40cm @ 24 broke 65 cm We also did a shovel shear that broke at 20cm then 65cm. The January dry spell has created a weak layer 65 cm below the surface. There was also a lot of wind loading. We heard multiple whoomps, but did not see any avalanches. It was warming a little with some wind and snow. I would recommend staying off open slopes over 30 degrees. We traveled cautiously, staying off big slopes.
