Meiss

We found a dusting of new snow above yesterday's rain crust, all the way to our high point of 9450ft. The deepest wind deposits we encountered were ankle deep, and didn't show signs of instability. It was an unusually calm day along the Meiss ridge towards Little Round Top, with no evidence of recent or current wind tranport. I looked in several places for buried surface hoar under the rain crust, and instead found early stage faceting. This was most prevalent where the rain crust had the least amount of new snow over it. In places with ankle deep snow above the rain crust, the facets just under it were less obvious. There was also some faceting and new surface hoar above the rain crust.
