Quick report
Clear, sunny day. No wind. Widespread surface hoar. Some locations had exceptionally large surface hoar. Wind scoured locations, and wind loaded locations. Joined another group at their snow pit where we did 3 isolated column tests. 6000ft NE aspect. Saw several crusts in the snowpack. Two of the column tests resulted layers collapsing. The crust layers where the failure occurred had large grains of snow. We dug another pit a 6000ft E aspect. We found 2 crust layers. The top layer failed on a crust after 5 elbow taps. We removed the top layer and another layer of snow failed after 5 elbow taps. We rode an East facing slope. Nothing moved. Tried to trigger something on an inconsequential steep convex rollover, but nothing moved. As always, sharks are a risk.
