Snowpack
Wind crusts are prevalent but their depth in the snowpack is variable. There are areas where wind slabs are on the surface and others below 2 to 4 inches of Wednesday's snow. For most of the newly created skin tracks, isolated cracking at the track. However, I heard a big whumping sound on one tracked and turned around when I placed a track on 4 inches of snow on top of a 2 inch wind slab, laying on top of faceted grains. Elevation was around 10, 400 feet. Aside from wind slabs of 2 to 4 inches breaking along skin track, no other observations.
