Height of new snow since 1/7 seemed to be 6” at lower elevations and 12” at higher elevations as of 0900 on 1/8. We saw some reactivity from an inter-storm layer in shovel tilt tests and in shooting cracks off our skin track on locally steep sections at upper elevations. The inter-storm layer was buried about 8” down at lower elevations and 14” down at higher elevations. We could feel the approximate location as a density change with our ski poles. We did not witness evidence of natural avalanches. There was some evidence of large tree bombs and the trees are holding a lot of snow ahead of a probable warm up.
