Quick Observation

Today in the Upper Burnt riding area we had a great day touring around we incountered many different snow conditions depending on aspect and elevation. Higher elevations were more wind affected and hard, south facing slopes had a hard melt freeze crust. Lower elevations that were protected on north east facing slopes had nice soft powder. In our pit we had a few layers of concern. First layer was down 20cm CTM12 (RP) on rounding forms 1mm in size. second layer was down 30cm CTH21 (RP) on rounding forms 1mm in size. our deepest layer of concern was down 80cm CTH27 (RP) on rounding forms 2mm in size. all 3 layers were old buried wind slabs. Very consolidated snowpack. Surface Hoar 2mm in size on the surface. Elevation: 1550m Aspect: E Incline: 21 degrees Temps: Air -3.5 Surface -0.9 Total HS: 275cm
