Quick report
Bluebird day through mid-afternoon (did seem to cloud over some at TH around 3pm). Quality overnight refreeze above 8500’ (including under canopy) that kept travel by both ski and boot efficient and north-facing ski terrain stable through 2pm. This included some steeper, crag-adjacent terrain that displayed prior days’ roller balls but produced no sustained movement with ski cuts. More specifically, departed TH 8:30am on firm, very efficient travel by ski then boot/crampon. First ski from one of the Sisters @ 10150 at 12:15 seemed good timing. Crampon-less softer but efficient boot pack back to 10K’ under Round Top western ridge. 2nd ski at 1:45pm still quality during traverse to headwall above western half of Winnemuca Lake (that looked dicey for crossing). Cragginess and slightly more easterly aspect of headwall seemed to make conditions much softer. Expected safety ski cuts to produce, but slopes remained stable all the way down through various crag shots to the lake. Even exit undulating ski slog at 2:30 seemed relatively non-sticky. Snow coverage/melt-out contrast between North and South-facing terrain becoming stark.
