Quick report
Toured on Trimmer today. There is ample coverage on the lower parts of the Bonus hill but the snow has gone through some melt freeze cycles down low and presents multiple flavors of crust. Soft snow was present above about 7400 on the approach. Near the top of the Bonus hill, there was firm wind, wind-hardened snow on the north side of the ridge and soft melting snow on the sunny south-facing side. Along the way towards Trimmer, the views of the dead trees from the Caldor are interesting and show quite a bit of wind effect. This was most noticeable skinning past a full cornice in this below tree line terrain. There is impressive evidence of previous settlement in the Trimmer area. Descending Trimmer the snow was a mix of firm wind board and soft snow with a subtle crust. I didn't see evidence of any big slides that ran recently. On the way out, I think I passed very deep wallowing bear tracks.
