Quick report

No signs of instability where we were riding in low angle meadows and hills. aprox 16 inches of new snow had fallen, very deep sledding conditions due to the breakable layer 2 ft down that causes sled skis to sink during turns and feel bottomless. partly could with patches of sun poking through. we traveled very cautious and avoided avalanche terrain due to PWL that was know and the difficult conditions of deep snow sledding!

Avalanche

Headwaters drainage, photo taken from aprox location on mule cr summer trail/road. looking west toward ridge that divides headwaters and freshman's cr. Avalanche slid on an east, and semi south east facing slope and broke very wide , and in multiple trigger points. I believe the avalanche had occurred naturally the day or night before- so Thursday the 18th. no one caught that was in our group as it was there when we arrived.
