Quick report
I went out with my skis hoping for a few, thin turns but was scuttled by the lack of snowfall. I encountered very little pre 10/24 snow. Where I found it, it presented as a thin, rough, icy crust that was well adhered to the ground. Snow at the surface (from 10/24 storm) has faceted significantly, and a nice batch of 4-10mm SH showing signs of multi-phase growth.
This could have made for a "great" weak layer if it had been buried like this in a mid-winter snowpack. Temperature warmed significantly in the ensuing days and the nature of this snow changed significantly.
