Snow Obs team entered the High Eastern Bowls off Peak #1. Snow depth varied from 30 cm to 300 cm. The team dug at 8,700 ft. On a South East aspect with a total snow depth of 85 cm. (Across the whole mountain at all aspects and elevations we have a PWL anywhere from 30-60 cm down that is not propagating but usually goes CT M-H resistant planar to broken.) On the east bowls in Peak 1 below 30 cm, the pack is highly consolidated down to the last 20 cm where we have our basal facets. Today was the first time we found the ground at .5 C. The Facets were sized 1-3 mm and rounding. Test results were not able to elicit a failure. ski cut tests in the upper mountain storm/wind slab above 9,000 ft showed reactivity at and on slopes 38 degrees and above. Slabs were isolated and usually right below ridgelines. The morning explosives team pulled out small D1- slides in the top 15 cm of the pack and only on slopes greater than 40 degrees.
