Titus

Warm temps are causing weird conditions. All snow surfaces I encountered today were moist/wet. Pinwheels/ small wet loose avalanches were easy to initiate on N-E facing terrain at 9500'. 1-2 foot thick wind slabs exist in exposed upper elevation terrain. 

Weak snow buried 2 feet deep still exists. 

 

Isolated cracking in previously wind-loaded areas.

Wet Snow: 
The main story today was the green housing conditions, which created gooey surfaces across all aspects. I didn't find any dry snow in my travels, even up to 10k. Every surface got moist to wet. I was able to trigger small moist-loose avalanches by throwing snowballs on steep slopes. 

So far, only the upper 10cm of the snowpack has gotten wet. 10cm and deeper, the snowpack remained dry. 

Windslabs: 
40-60cm windslabs observed on NE-E-SE facing terrain along Titus ridge. These slabs were stubborn. I did receive some cracking while stomping on them hard. Cracks didn't travel more than 10 feet.

Buried Facets:
Dug on the top of Timber Bowl at 9500' on a NW aspect. 2/8 and 2/16 were both present. 2/16 was down 55 and was surface hoar, 2/8 was down 65 and was still 4F- facets (dry). ECTP27 on 2/16. No other obvious signs of instability on these layers, but I felt 2/8 in most places while stabbing around in the snow with my pole.
