Quick Observation

Today we found a Barkerville powder day. A north wind was blowing, moving the new storm snow onto south facing slopes. This was building reactive wind slabs on the opposite side of where cornices have formed. We moved away from the wind and windslabs by dropping down in elevation to sheltered open trees. There, the powder was deep and the recent storm snow seemed to be bonding well. We could see that there had been an avalanche cycle during the storm but didn't see anything new today.
