Quick Observation

Great conditions for March 25th !!!!! Stormy, snowing up to 2cm per hour at times. Variable clouds, occasional sunshine, minimal wind.

Avalanche Information

Small 0.5 skier triggered soft slab up to 15cm thick (picture attached). Failed about 5cm above the crust. Ski cutting the steeper slope a bit higher yielded no result but this pocket had more wind deposition and the slab cut out mid turn and ran a short distance.

Snowpack

Did several small hand pits while skinning up on various aspects. On slopes steeper than 40 degrees, failures occurred when the blocks were isolated using a pole (not a saw). Uneven breaks, usually about 5-10cm above the crust within the new snow. 10-15cm new snow on E aspects BTL, 20-30cm on W and NW aspects.
