Quick Observation

Ventured through the rain to tunnel creek hut for the night. Sticky snow = tough skinning. Rain turned to snow approx 200m below the hut. Surprisingly good skiing in trees above. Keep it high and tight!

below freezing from Tunnel hut and above - wet and wild below

Snowpack

ECT resistant planer on facets down 30cm (storm snow) Hard Result (21) sudden planar on facets/crust down 70cm (PWL) Hard result (24) No surface signs of instability observed, fast creamy pow in the trees above Tunnel Creek Hut from the ridge down. Very wet snow and rain approx 100m below hut to the highway. Thank God for Goretex!
