Avalanche Information

Made a huge mistake today. We were staying away from steep slopes most of the day and I did not take the time to properly access the wind loaded slab at the peak. I rode up the adjacent slope a couple times. The second climb I went 10 meters over and when I crested the hill the slab broke free. I was over the top to on the edge of the avalanche and rode out quite quickly. When i was clear off to the side I turned around and watched the avalanche propagate to the adjacent slope. It easily turned into a class 2 avy and ran out quite far. A huge learning lesson for me and hopefully a lot of other people. Scared my myself straight on this. Yes, I have my avy training and gear and all the other riders did too. A bad judgement call that I definitely have learned from.
