Quick Observation

A quick trip to the upper reaches of the Big Y. Water saturated snow from the highway up to about 1400m, above that to 1700m the surface was already freezing into a crust and above 1700m to 1850m there was dry wind pressed snow. On the glacier we probed 250cm. The whole area still has exposed rocks and seems a bit below average for snow cover. The wind was light up at the ridge line but clouds were moving fast higher up. The warm temperatures have settled the recent new snow and we felt comfortable in steeper terrain
