Quick Observation
Burstall Pass. Dec 10. 2403m Elevation. HS 115cm. East aspect. 25 degree slope. Column Test Hard, No Result. 20cm Storm Snow on wind crust. A second wind crust at 35cm. Both well bonded. One finger density for almost all of the column. Pleasantly surprised to see no facets at ground level, could be a new record for the Rockies. When I pried the column it broke at the ground. It took a good amount of force to break it over my knee, and then it was a ragged break. Plenty of wind loading on lee aspects. Couldn't see the cornices on Snow Peak due to cloud, but noted cornice failures on lower ridge lines, east aspect.
