Quick Observation
River isn't frozen where we crossed (expected), went for a nice knee dip to get across. Some areas of the river, especially south of Pulpit 4, looked frozen from above but would not trust ice to hold. Ice had definitely degraded in quality (cracking, edges falling into water, etc.) in the afternoon vs the morning. Skiing quality at and below treeline in the east avalanche paths off Pulpit 4 was incredible with some obstacles. Bit of a wallow to skin up though with the facets. Godspeed if you follow our meandering skin track.
Weather
Snowpack
Lots of facets (shocking). No pits dug, but did not feel any settling or whumpfing. Definite low height of snow, have to watch for pungees especially in the tight trees. The avalanche paths we travelled through did not have much widespread connection, still lots of trees and rocks breaking it up.
