Quick report
We walked out to Avalanche Bowl to check on the shallow snowpack that exists on north facing slopes. Overall, walking was our preferred method of travel given the lack of snow. We were still punching through to the ground, but travel was not terrible. Despite being shallow (12-18”), the snowpack is moist and lacking any concerning interfaces at the moment. Another week of dry weather will change the snow on the ground and will be worth tracking before the next significant snowfall.

Calm winds, clouds were in and out, at times very thick around us. Temperatures felt in the low 30s. Rime was developing on some vegetation.
Snowpack
Hard to really call it a snowpack… spotty and shallow where it exists. Only slopes with a northerly tilt are holding snow at 9,000’. Here, we found a snow depth of 1-1.5ft (~40cm where we dug). On top there is 1-4 inches of recent snow from the dribbles of snow this week. Below is a mixed bag of melt freeze crusts and moist snow. Faceted snow near the ground is rounding and bonding. No major hardness changes in the bottom half of the snowpack. The last week of warm weather appears to have limited the faceting process.
