Quick report

We observed a faceted layer at the base of the snowpack on several aspects including SW, E, and N, all between 8-9,000ft. Where we dug our pit, the faceted layer was beginning to round and was 4F hardness. Despite snow available for transport and L to M winds, we found no evidence of newly formed wind slabs. We saw no signs of instability or signs of recent wind loading.

Snowpack

Overall, the Big Holes have lower snow coverage than typical years. We have dug pits in this location in January for the past 3 years and typically have a HS closer to 2 meters.
