Weakest snow is at the snow surface in the protected mid-elevations. Surface hoar seems confined to the valley and drainage bottoms (?) The "slab" from a couple weeks ago appears to be faceting out altogether and I expect to see areas of sandboxing soon. If not already.
Wanted to look at mid-elevation westerly aspects (60-80cm) - they are a mess of facets over crusts with likely some facets interspersed between the crusts. See profile below. The mid-elevation northerly facing aspects (80-100cm) (also see below) also hold a poorly-structured snowpack with clear faceting between the holiday crusts and above the NY crust. Basal weaknesses not as weak as noted by Champion and Talty on the PC ridgeline on Jan 19th (yesterday).
Snowpack
Almost all the boxes checked. If you include the ski areas, you could include rain crust down low; if you describe the diurnal facets as "square powder', then I guess you have them all. In truth, quite good skiing conditions still in the sheltered terrain.
