Snowpack

Quick report

Sadly, the rain/snow line stayed unseasonably high and even rose above 8000 feet in elevation during the middle of the day. It was easy to make snowballs with the saturated heavy new snow, but it was certainly far from "Utah Powder". Good for building a solid base, though, maybe.

Aspen trees exposed to the winds blowing from the west showed rime development, frost growing into the wind. Although the snow conditions were less than desirable, it was nice to be out, and the view was spectacular in the afternoon, once the clouds parted over the lake.

Snowpack

Moist and heavy new snow made all the more damp during the day by light, misty rain.
