With the skin track failing, more than normal shooting cracks and the observed avalanche it seemed as if the new snow is having a problem bonding with the old surface. The old surface is very firm and slick, crampons are needed to have secure footing. The new snow was a consistent depth with no signs of wind effect or loading Was unable to skin on steeper parts of the lower runout of chute as the new snow was not bonding well to the old slick surface. Cracking underfoot shooting out more than normal. A ski pole basket was even causing shooting cracks.

Very calm and visibility was good during our time spent in the ravine. You could hear the plows on RT-16

While traveling towards left at powder corner ( dip between left and chute ) we think to have remote triggered a small storm slab/soft slab about 8cms thick. This happened roughly 25-30feet above and to the side of us. we were traveling next the bushes trying to avoid that bit of slope.
