While approaching the saddle ridgeline south of Rammell Mountain, we experienced a widespread collapse (whumphing) across the slope. Total Snow Depth: 165 cm • Recent Storm Snow: 40 cm • Weak Layer: ~2 cm thick preserved surface hoar layer • Interface: Surface hoar sitting on top of significant faceting • Depth of Weak Layer: 40 cm down • Character: Well-preserved, intact crystals with poor bonding Stability Tests • ECTP3 @ 40 cm • Full propagation on the preserved surface hoar layer • Sudden planar shear

A large avalanche was observed on the Crows Nest ridgeline from a separate ridge to the north. All dimensions and characteristics are visual estimates only, as the crown and debris were not directly examined. The slide appeared approximately 60 m (200 ft) wide with an estimated crown depth of ~40 cm, based on recent storm snow measurements (~40 cm) collected in a snowpit on Rammell Mountain in similar elevation terrain. The slab thickness visually aligned with the depth of recent storm accumulation. This slope did slide before the high pressure drought, repeater slope.
