Quick report
Went out to Hell roaming peak because what else are we going to do when conditions like these exist. Turned out to be not a bad day to roam, thanks to Friday’s couple inches of new snow. The open slopes off the peak were smooth and the skiing was pleasant although short . We stopped our runs at the Taylor creek road to avoid getting into any trouble in the trees and most likely mank/breakable snow surface. We released some rollerballs on the steep road embankment , but they only moved on the hard supportable surface 2 inches below the new snow. On our second run our turns produced small, isolated loose wet avalanches at the same spot. Again, these only occurred above the road where the pitch steepened. This would likely be the main problem at higher elevations especially as it gets warm and clear tomorrow. The cloud cover remained present till we headed back in bounds around 2 in the afternoon. We stopped at the beacon training plot before heading home. Another fine thing to do this time of year as we wait for the next round of storms.
