Overcast and actively snowing (S1) as we began our tour. Little to no wind the whole day. HS at our highest point near the summit was 110cm at 9600 feet. Snow up high was soft and light on top and supportable with dense layers a foot below the surface. As we descended below 9000 feet the snow developed a crust 3 inches below the surface on SW aspect. Lower down on the approach and exit the snow was only about 4-6 inches deep. Dug a pit on S face at 9600 feet and got ECT-X. We found the persistent weak layer at the base of the snowpack but were not able to get it to react in out pit test and snowpack was right-side-up above it.
