Quick report

The trail up was passable, but with plenty of water ice to contend with. There was 3” of new snow at the lake elevation, but rarely did you find that depth of snow, as most had been wind affected. Riding conditions were rough as you’re on wind slabs and the crust. We observed a handful of small avalanches in upper elevation terrain on all aspects within the upper snowpack, and one large 500-600 ft wide avalanche above the lake cabin. I was honestly surprised to not see more large avalanches. The wind had been blowing, and it continued to blow while we were out.

Avalanche

We observed one large 500-600 ft wide avalanche on pestle mountain above the crescent lake cabin. I was unable to snap a picture.
