Elevation
3600 ft

Skinned up the normal Sunburst up track to the top of the ridge. When the first skier took their first turn the slope avalanched. The skier was caught and carried roughly 200ft before being able to ski out of the right flank of the avalanche unscathed. The crown was ~ 200 ft wide and 12 to 16 inches deep. The avalanche consisted of the new snow from this last storm that fell on the most recent layer of surface hoar. It did not step down into any older layers deeper in the snowpack.
